Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our try-on samples range mostly from sizes 12–14, with select gowns available in 16, 18, and 22. Once you choose a gown, it is made-to-order in your closest standard size based on your measurements. You can also find the sample size of each gown listed in its description on our Collection page.

  • Bridal sizing follows traditional couture size charts, meaning gowns often run 1–2 sizes smaller than everyday clothing. It’s completely normal to wear a different size in bridal. What matters most is fit, not the number on the label. Your stylist will guide you through sizing with care and reassurance.

  • Split sizing allows you to order a gown in two different sizes — for example, a size 12 bodice and a size 14 skirt — when your measurements fall across multiple size brackets. Not all designers offer this, but when available, it can help reduce alterations and improve overall fit.

  • Yes. Alterations are expected with every bridal gown, even when made-to-order. Bridal gowns are created in standard sizes, and final fit is achieved by a skilled seamstress who tailors the dress to your body. This may include hemming, shaping the bodice, adjusting the waist or hips, adding bust support, or refining straps.

  • Made-to-order means your gown is created for you in your closest standard size once you place your order. It is not custom (made to your exact measurements), but it is produced specifically for you based on your body’s proportions.

  • Many designers allow small custom changes such as split adjustments, modifying strap styles, or extending the train. Some customisation’s are done through the designer, while others can be completed during alterations depending on the change. Your stylist can help you understand what’s possible.

  • Yes — Delilah Belle offers a fully custom gown option, allowing you to work with the designer to create a completely unique gown or personalise existing styles with bespoke details. Let us know if you are interested when booking your appointment.

  • Any gown with a train will require a bustle for your reception. Bustles are added during alterations, our Anna Campbell gowns come pre-bustled and come in several styles, such as over-bustles, French bustles, and ballroom bustles. Your seamstress will recommend the best option for your gown’s structure.
